Course Objective:

The primary objective of the Geriatric Care Assistant (GCA) is to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality care to patients, elderly people, and individuals with disabilities. This job-oriented training program is designed to help individuals develop the essential skills required for the role of a caregiver, such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Course Content & Description:

The Geriatric Care Assistant (GCA) is a comprehensive program that covers a wide range of topics related to caregiving. The program content includes: -

•  Introduction to caregiving
•  Understanding the needs of patients, elderly people, and individuals with disabilities
•  Communication skills for caregivers.
•  Patient safety and mobility.
•  Assisting with activities of daily living.
•  Vital signs monitoring.
•  Care for patients with dementia
•  Medication management.
•  Nutrition and hydration.
•  Infection control.
•  End-of-life care.

Throughout the program, students will also learn about the importance of compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity in providing care.

Upon completion of the program and the 5-month internship, students will receive a certificate of completion from the Guardian Angel Institute of Caregiving, which will help them kickstart their career as a caregiver.
